Congrats Minnehaha!

Well, for those who didn’t participate at the 21st MWKF Tournament, here’s  quick summary:

  1. Lyfonge and Nate got 3rd in Mudansha division!
  2. We all passed our gradings!  Amanda sempai, me, and Justin are now Nidan!  Hana is now Shodan!  Lastly, Lyfonge is now Ikkyu!

No Class on Saturday Nov 13 & 14

Due to almost everyone is heading to Chicago for the 21st Annual Midwest Kendo Tournament this coming weekend, there will not be classes on Friday the 13th, and Saturday the 14th.  Class will resume on Nov 18th.

First of all, thank you to those who came to our dojo and practiced this past weekend – namely University of Wisconsin Madison, Okada-san from Chicago Dojo, and Rochester Dojo.  Now that we are warmed up for the Taikai, here’s the applications for the tournament and for the promotional exam.  Although the actual due date is Nov. 7, but please download and bring the applications into the dojo so we can turn in the team roster before or by October 31, Saturday! Cleveland 2009 Tournament is coming up, and I apologize for not keeping the latest news around the federation current. The tournament will be held on April 17-19 and visit the Cleveland Kendo Association website for forms and detail information.

First of all, I have noticed the website had been slowing down to a halt sometimes.  I won’t bore you with the technical details, but I am working on it to make it runs fast again.  I had trouble updating the site myself, but I apologize for the technical difficulties.  So for a quickie update and announcement but I’m sure most of you know this by now:

Promotional Information
The deadline for turning in the application is Febuary 6th.  You can also find the promotional application on the MWKF website.  Thank your lucky star that Tyler Zimmerman sempai is now our MWKF VP of promotion, so you can hand him the application directly.

Hopefully the website won’t explode in the next few days…

20th MWKF Taikai Aftermath

First of all, thank you to all volunteers and participants who made the 20th MWKF Tournament possible.  Without you, it would not be possible.

Secondly, we would like to congratulate all the winners of the tournament, and Cochran sensei won 2nd place in Seniors!  Results will be posted later this week on this website and the MWKF website.  So stay tuned!

Finally, we would like to congratulate the following Minnehaha members who have successfully passed their exams on Sunday:

  • Justin Brunnette – Shodan
  • Jacob McClure – 2 Kyu
  • Hanae Tsujimoto – 2 Kyu

Actually, one more announcement.  University of Wisconsin will be hosting a team practice on November 15 & 16.  More detail will soon follow.

First of all, congratulations to Narumoto sensei for winning the 4th Dan & Up division and added his 4th 1st place cup in his collection! The cup looks so shiny this time! I promise I will get the pictures of the shiny cup up by tomorrow – the latest!

Also congratulation to Aaron for passing Ikkyu!

The godo-geiko and the tournament were great and extremely well organized by Detroit dojo, so big thanks to Detroit dojo for hosting such wonderful taikai!

No Practice on Saturday, Feb 16th
