The annual AUSKF & MWKF membership drive is here, and we’re running a bit behind! So if you were in class last Saturday, here’s the form. Remember, make ONE check payable to Minnehaha Kendo Dojo, NOT AUSKF / MWKF!! Please bring them in on Saturday, the 28th!

11th Annual Detroit Tournament

First of all, I have noticed the website had been slowing down to a halt sometimes.  I won’t bore you with the technical details, but I am working on it to make it runs fast again.  I had trouble updating the site myself, but I apologize for the technical difficulties.  So for a quickie update and announcement but I’m sure most of you know this by now:

Promotional Information
The deadline for turning in the application is Febuary 6th.  You can also find the promotional application on the MWKF website.  Thank your lucky star that Tyler Zimmerman sempai is now our MWKF VP of promotion, so you can hand him the application directly.

Hopefully the website won’t explode in the next few days…

Holidays Schedule – updated

I apologize in the last post I mentioned there will be new year party on the 20th, actually the party is on 1/3/09.  Although, the dojo will still be closed after the 20th until January 3rd.

20th MWKF Taikai Aftermath

First of all, thank you to all volunteers and participants who made the 20th MWKF Tournament possible.  Without you, it would not be possible.

Secondly, we would like to congratulate all the winners of the tournament, and Cochran sensei won 2nd place in Seniors!  Results will be posted later this week on this website and the MWKF website.  So stay tuned!

Finally, we would like to congratulate the following Minnehaha members who have successfully passed their exams on Sunday:

  • Justin Brunnette – Shodan
  • Jacob McClure – 2 Kyu
  • Hanae Tsujimoto – 2 Kyu

Actually, one more announcement.  University of Wisconsin will be hosting a team practice on November 15 & 16.  More detail will soon follow.

Early practice on 10/11

Please be at the dojo at 2:30 and get ready to go by 3:00 so we can practice entering and exiting a Shiajo (Match area/ring).  Also if you have not pay for your registrations, please do so.

Volunteers wanted!

As we all know that the 20th MWKF Tournament is approaching, we will need a good number of volunteers to assist us for variety of duties on October 18.  As a small token of appreciation, you will receive a FREE bento lunch at the tournament.

We will need volunteers for the following duties through out the tournament:

  • Timing – All you have to do is to time a 3 minutes match
  • Score Keeping – Writing down scores and arranging matches
  • Tying Red/White Ribbons (Tasuki) for competitors
  • Passing out water for referees

There are also many miscellaneous duties through out the tournament, so if you are interested in helping, please fill out the application or contact:

We will also have a volunteer meeting tentatively on Friday October 17, time is to be announced.
